Operating Systems

• Windows OS: I use Windows 7/10 for ArcGIS and other scientific software.
• Linux OS: I dual boot Linux Mint, and have also used Linux to schedule tasks/process data on a High Performance Computing Cluster called "BIGDOG" (http://oit.siu.edu/rcc/).

Computer Languages

• Python 3.x: I use Python 3.6 for data wrangling, automating workflows, creating publication quality graphics, stand alone programs for sharing, and webscraping. Modules regularly used: pandas, tkinter, matplotlib, numpy, arcpy, scipy, sci-kit learn.
• R: I use R for data exploration, statistics, and modeling. Some examples of tests performed: t-test, ANOVA, repeated measure ANOVA, GLM, GLMM, regression, multiple regression, logistic regression, and non-parametric statistics
• SQL: I use SQL statements in PostgreSQL, ArcGIS 10.x, MS Access for creating tabular data sets for analysis, however I prefer the "No SQL" method for certain applications as it is much faster and more efficient.
• MATLAB: I use MATLAB for data wrangling, automating workflows, and creating publication quality graphics, however there are many open source alternatives that have much more flexibility and functionality.

Proprietary Software Used

• Esri Products: I am a certified Esri Desktop Associate 10.1, and use ArcPro and ArcMap 10.x with the Spatial Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, and Tracking Analyst extensions. I use Model Builder and Python scripts to streamline workflows and analysis, relational geodatabases to store and share data, and create animations to explore and present spatial and temporal data.
• Echoview 5.4/9: I have used Echoview to process hydroacoustic survey echograms from Biosonic transducers.
• JMP 10: Easy to use statistical software, but limited in functionality and flexibility.
• SPSS 18: Easy to use statistical software, but limited in functionality and flexibility.
• MATLAB: Expensive software that has excellent mathmatical toolboxes

Open Source Software Used

• Audacity: An easy to use and effective program for manipulating audio files
• Bulk Rename Utility: An easy to use and effective program for renaming files
• Filezilla: An easy to use and effective program for downloading files from an FTP site
• Inkscape: A great free alternative to Adobe photoshop
• Lightworks: An excellent free video editing software
• R Studio: A text editor and package manager for R with a similar layout to MATLAB
• PostgreSQL: An excellent SQL database manager, superior to MS Access, Esri Geodatabases, MySQL
• Putty: An excellent program for connecting Windows OS to a workstation running Linux
• PyCharm: An excellent Python text editor
• Qgis: An excellent alternative to Esri Products, faster too
• Spyder 3: A Python text editor similar to Matlab and R studio
• WinSCP: An excellent program enabling easy file manipulation from desktop to connected workstation

Computer Hardware

• Desktop: Building a desktop PC from scratch has helped me keep current with technological developments regarding CPU, RAM, Storage Devices, and other components
• GPU: NVIDIA Graphics Processing Units allow for advanced / speedy data processing - especially in regards to training Machine Learning Neural Networks
